No Madden in 2009. Good!

EA Sports release a Madden NFL every year and every year I get disgusted at the consumer. At this point I don’t even consider Madden gamers true gamers. I consider them androids that are programmed to only play Madden sports; while neglecting all other great games in the process. Madden gamers don’t have the gray matter to fight EA Sports programming

The Madden game the gamers purchase usually have very insignificant updates from the previous version yet gamers still feel compelled to buy it. The Madden shamockery (“Sham”-“mockery”) has been around since the 1990’s, but in the 21st century it’s been rendered obsolete. The notion of spending $60 a year for a Madden game with updated features is ridiculous especially since the game industry now is making money hand-over-fist by selling downloadable content. Red Octane and Harmonix are raking in serious cheddar buy selling music tracks online. Halo3 and Rainbow 6 Vegas hit the jackpot with downloadable maps as well. Madden is the only game that doesn’t supply its audience with proper downloadable content that could be in the form of a new feature to extend the gameplay of the series past one footbal season.

Madden gamers would love to download draft picks, roster updates and player updates for the respective and following season as well. EA Sports is the only company that makes their fans base buy the game year after year. This is suppose to be the 21st century not the1990’s. Electronic Arts is the only company that doesn’t truly grasp this technical age. Gamers don’t need a Madden game every year. We need one great Madden game with a plethora of downloadable content. No Madden in 2009 maybe the step in that direction but what do I know. I like the EPSN NFL 2K series better anyway.

what a stupid article. I love madden and have been playing it forever. but i own a wii, a ps3, and a 360. not to mention my pc for pc games. to say i am not a true gamer is a joke. I play all types of games, as do alot of madden players i know.

"Electronic Arts is the only company that doesn’t truly grasp this technical age"... wow. dumbass. you are the one that doesnt grasp this technical age. technology changes all the time and there are huge improvements in the quality of madden games each year.

Dumb and ridiculous article. Madden is improved and updated every year with satisfying new features. Its never the same. DLC would never really work. Plus EA already does that with Madden you dumbass. You can download new trades, injuries, and roster changes. But the Madden game changes dramatically every year. If you arent a fan of Madden. You never notice and spot the obvious differences. So keep your ignorance to yourself you pathetic little person.

I agree with the other people saying this is a ridiculous article. I love NFL and I love most games so that does not mean I am no gamer. In the defense of the writer the Madden games have not made huge changes from year to year. ESPN NFL 2K5 is still the best NFL game ever made and it was sold for twenty bucks. Madden is far from being able to be exempt from scrutiny.

I co-sign "I like the EPSN NFL 2K series better anyway". I've been playing madden since sega genesis and i'd prefer playing the old madden versus a re-hash madden game of today. It's always the same old crap. For the above three that posted their opinions about calling the writer whatever you called'em should analyze what the writer is trying to point out. It's very true what he says, EA basically hustles you with madden and you don't get much out the game in return.

I think in defense of the writer gamers who continue to purchase Madden every year is not a part of the solution but part of the problem. Sells for the Madden franchise would have to drop tremendously for EA to even start thinking about doing a real overhaul. And with the advancements in DLC and the moolah that EA rakes in, they could easily take a year off of Madden and put together something that can stand the test of time. I would think all of us as gamers would want that, instead of just another $60 upgrade from last year.

At this point I don’t even consider Madden gamers true gamers. I consider them androids that are programmed to only play Madden sports; while neglecting all other great games in the process. Madden gamers don’t have the gray matter to fight EA Sports programming this is the part i have a problem with. that is a gross generalization. every sports game is like this. do you think espn 2k anything is any different? no, its not. they put out a new game every year with a few new features. thats every NHL, NBA, NCAA, MLB 2k game. so maybe he should just say sports gamers in general arent "true gamers", which is of coarse BS.

preach on! i don't agree with the "don’t even consider Madden gamers true gamers" part, but the rest is pretty accurate. i've purchased the last 3 iterations of Madden and, to tell the absolute truth, the games have only differed with graphics, a new roster, plays, and a new gimmicky gameplay mechanic. all of which could be presented to the consumer for $20. If the game is solid, there's no reason to remake it every year. If i like my car, but i don't like it blue i don't buy a new car, i buy a new paint job. EA loves to maximize profit, and they have you madden consumers by the balls.

What a stupid article. And don't give EA any more ideas about charging for worthless download crap they need to include in the game in the first place.

Look at all the madden drones defending mediocrity. I guess you idiots think that running underwater is realistic because that is what the movements on madden feel like. Madden has been trash since 2004, anybody who thinks otherwise is a idiot. Yes you, you're an idiot. FUCK MADDEN!

  11. headshot24/7 wrote on Mar 27, 05:06 pm

Yo adam, I couldn't have said it better myself, it's more then possible that some of these "New features" could be offerd as downloadable content for about 10 or 15 bucks. EA knows that it's going to get a full $60 for about $10 worth of content and some additional polish on the last title. It's bullshit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. headshot24/7 wrote on Mar 27, 05:10 pm

Yeah FUCK MADDEN. LETS FUCKING RAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  13. justin wrote on Mar 27, 05:56 pm

i dont see how madden is different from any sports game in this regard. not just ea games either. all 2k games are exactly the same. a new game each year with a few inprovements and new rosters ect. to single out madden and madden gamers is BS

For those of you who are hating on the "Madden Series" so much, who cares what you think of EA/Madden!! It's my $60.00 to do want I want to, ok!! The more ppl that hate madden 09, the less ppl will be in line come 12:01am on Aug.12th!! I'm a 41 year old gamer, boys.lol Do try to have a nice day.lol

I still play "ESPN NFL 2k5" football game and all, But I still prefer Madden 08 on the X360 over 2k5. EA is the Power house as far as in video football, like it or not. Like Ric Flair over 25 years ago, "Wheather you like it or don't like it,learn to love it, b/c it is the thing going today!!" As I said in my earlier post, the more ppl that will not pay $64.00 for madden09, the less ppl in line for me!! Thank you all, have a nice day.lol

Thats a bunch of bs, no game ever has tons and tons of new features, personally i dont mind spending 60 bucks on a new madden with a few great updates and better graphics. Sure NFL 2k5 was a good game i played it all the time, but to say that about madden is just plain wrong
