Here are a few reason gamers are starting to abandon the Evil that is GAME STOP.
1. GameStop push Used Games. Gamers and fanboys alike want to support their favorite consoles yet when you buy used games from GameStop, only GameStop gets the profit. How can NPD quotes be accurate if Game Stop is skimming from the top. Some awesome video games will never see a sequel because of Game Stop.
2. GamesStop isn’t the only Store with Games. Gaming is a 17 billion dollar a year industry. Every electronic giant now wants a piece of the gaming world. With 24hr availability of places like Wal-Mart, gaming enthusiast can buy games any time day or night, which make GameStop obsolete.
3. GameStop’s smug store clerks. Game Stop employee think they know exactly what you want when you enter the store. Store clerks size you up as a Nintendo,Xbox or Sony guy then they proceed to push every pre order, periphral and used game at you. This just isn’t necessary!
4. GameStop Buy Sell & Trade policy GameStops Buy,Sell & Trade policy makes pyramid schemes look righteous. If you buy a new game Super Smash Brol:Brawl for $50 then sell it back after you finish it for $35. Next week you see your fairly new copy of Brawl for $45 and that’s if you are luckly. Some clerks resale the copy at regular price. By the way, GameStop has bought my trade in for .60 and resold it for $20. I’m sure many of econ majors are smiling at this.
