Microsoft Achievements and my pscho-therapist.

I have a confession. I’m an Achievement Junkie. When I buy a game like “Bioshock” not only do I want to finish it. I want to accomplish the task few gamers have the balls to do. I want to find every hidden recording, every hidden room and every plasmid. Four years ago I wasn’t like this, I only went after the finish. That was before the achievement points and gamer score. Now I am a more competitive player amd hardcore. If you are on my friends list I often go to your gamer card and compare our stats. If you have achieved more than me on a particular game like “Marvel Ultimate Alliance” I have incentive to replay the game and find the secret achievement or find the hidden upgrade. Sometimes I feel compelled to buy downloadable content just to have access to more achievements. This would be weird and damn near obsessive compulsive if examined by professional yet to XBL gamers it’s the norm. Gamers have always had an ego, in the 90’s before the game score and achievements, players would lie about gaming accomplishments and no one could prove otherwise. Even I have told a fib from time to time but with achievements you want to become a better gamer. A lie amongst friends is taboo especially when your friends have the hardcore achievements to back up there claim to fame. If you are on my friends list I’m most likely checking you out. If you inch closer and closer to my game score then my next game will be chopped full of achievements. Confessions of an ACHIEVEMENT JUNKIE.
