The Nintendo Effect Continues

The Nintendo Wii has to be the hottest gaming console ever invented. The sales of the Wii skyrocketed in 2007 and has continued in 2008 yet hardcore gamers are starting to get worried. I spoke with a fellow Wii owner last week and was surprised to discover he has reverted back to his PS2. Throwback gaming is not uncommon among Wii owners; who bought their Wii for a different gaming experience but later revert back to an older console for a more familiar experience. Highly anticipated games like Super Smash Brothers Brawl have been pushed back consistently since their announcement. Wii owners interest peaked when “Metroid Prime 3: Corruption” was released back in August but have had only a few mature experience since. Nintendo has given their gamers childish gaming experiences like: (Bee Movie,Harvey Birdman ATL and Alvin and the Chipmunks) while Sony and Microsoft gamers have experienced some of the most unique current generation gaming imaginable. Nintendo’s current game line up has left the toughest Nintendo fanboy speechless. It is amazing how Nintendo’s viral campaign has Nintendo corp making money mostly from hardware sales instead of software. It looks as though the Nintendo Wii is like last generation Playstation 2 minus the games.
